Literally, we wait. It is 11:15 and still no medications have been started. Not even pre-meds, only sodium chloride and emend. Apparently, they said they ordered everything Friday to be delivered this morning and when they called to check the status of the delivery, they claimed they never received the order. So she resent it, and it wasn't taken, again! So she just got off the phone giving it verbally and had it confirmed with a rep. She is more than a little frazzled. She's here alone, and there are normally at least 3 nurses. Someone just left for Torrance to pick up the order. Going to be a LONG day.
Benadryl and Pepcid finally started at 1:00. Taxotere started at 1:20 (no reactions because we went SLOW). Carboplatin started at 3:30. Herceptin started at 4:20. Finished up the last of the sodium chloride at 5. Wow, I'm exhausted. Only would have taken 4 hours if we got the medicine in time. Thank God for great friends, I couldn't have gotten through today without them and their help. I took my emend too early before starting the chemo, so I already feel tired and nauseated. Plus, it was a long day and I didn't sleep well last night since I had the night sweats from the steroids. If I don't blog again for awhile, it's because I'm down for the count. But I will try to keep on it :-) Let's hope for a fast week!
