Today I went to Orange and saw all 3 doctors. Dr. Link was first. He said that I am due for another pet-ct because my last one was in January and I get them every 6 months for at least the first 3 years. He said he wants to look at the liver again because my original (very first) petct showed benign spots on the liver that went away after chemo. He said that may be an indication they were cancer related so he wants to make sure they haven't come back. He said it's a very common place for HER2+ patients to have cancer spread to their liver. That wasn't the most encouraging news ever, but he did say I looked great on the outside! I guess we shall see what the petct has to say. They will call me to schedule once it has been approved by insurance. He also drew blood (well, his nurse did) and she said that she was checking my complete blood counts, my liver counts, and my "breast tumor marker" (and I don't even know what that means so don't ask! haha!) I see him again in 3 months. They call with PetCt results.
Then I went to see Dr. Justin West. He said that all of my surgery area looked great. I was a little worried about some redness under my scar line but he said that was all surgery related and nothing to worry about. He said if I get a fever or if the redness gets worse to call right away. He let the nurse take my drain out (woohoo!). I need to get the stitches in my belly taken out on Friday at the Murrieta office. But I don't have to see him again for another 3 months! So I asked if I could go to the gym... and he said "ok, only lower body workouts starting Monday." So I'm not allowed to do upper body for 6 weeks, but I can get back in the gym in 1 week (11 days post surgery)! Counting down!!
Dr. John West came in after that and just did a breast exam and hugged me about 3x and told me how great I looked. "Phenomenal really for someone who has had radiation" I think were his exact words. I don't have to see him for another year.
Anyway, those are done and over with (phew!) I guess my next post will be about my PetCt :) Positive thoughts ONLY!
