Donna said if I hadn't heard back from her with results by Friday 8/26 to call her. Of course, I hadn't heard back so I called. She said estrogen levels came back normal. But, she said there is a nodule in my thyroid that they may have to biopsy or remove to test for cancer. I started to panic, and she said "it's no big deal. Even if it is cancer, we just cut it out and it's gone." Yeah, no big deal! She also said my cysts on my ovaries changed around so I'm going to get another ultrasound on those in 3 months. I told her that I've always had those, so she said it may just be my body. I asked why I get so many cysts on my ovaries, and the answer was "it's just what your body does." Awesome.
So I spent my entire weekend at Bass Lake worrying about my thyroid. I got a call on our way home Monday from Donna. She said "we decided we are just going to do another ultrasound on your thyroid in 6 months and keep an eye on it. If it's cancer, it won't change quickly and we want to see if it changes. If it does, we will biospy it. If it doesn't, we will leave it alone and assume it's nothing." Oh ok, so now I get to worry about my thyroid for 6 months. Great.
I went in for my regular breast exam and blood work on 7/30 (a month late, oops). Dr. Link said he's not worried about my thyroid at all. He says a lot of people have little cysts or nodules there and it's nothing to fear. I will try to take his word for it. He also agreed that some women just get a lot of cysts, and there's nothing I can do to change it. So I guess I'll see him again in 3 months, get my cysts looked at again so they can tell me they're fine, and I also see Dr. West on Friday 8/16 in Murrieta since I could never get my appt with him and Dr. Link to sync up.
