Today I called Donna the PA because I still hadn't heard anything and didn't want to assume "no news is good news" and I'm glad I didn't. First, I asked why I wasn't given a bone scan with the CTs since last time that's what I got in place of the PET-CT. They said it's because CTs will pick up bone also, and since the last PET-CT determined that spot on my bone scan was a bone island (not important) they didn't get another bone scan. Whatever. They probably just forgot to order it. Luckily, they said nothing suspicious showed up on my pelvic bone in the CT.
However, they said they found a few things that I need to follow up on. I have a lot of ovarian cysts they think might be caused by my Tamoxifen. So I need to get a blood test to determine my estrogen levels. Then, they said there were spots on my liver that they assume are hemangiomas or cysts (benign) since there have been no changes in them this year. They want to do an ultrasound of the liver to be sure. They also said there was a thyroid nodule found, which seems "stable" but an ultrasound was recommended on that as well. The funny part (if there ever is a funny part) is that a thyroid doesn't usually show up on a chest CT, but mine did because I'm so short. Lucky me, I guess.
I should be getting the ultrasounds scheduled by 7/11. Hope to get more answers soon! P.S. Insurance is killing us all!
