When I saw Dr. Link he did a breast exam, but the reason for my appointment was to discuss the issues I've been having. I showed him where my chest pain was, and he said it's "normal" for radiation patients. I also told him how I feel out of it all of the time, and he also deemed this "normal" for chemo patients. Sweet. I finally asked about the tamoxifen and told him what Dr. Kapoor had said. He pulled me into his office so he could look into it. He said he agrees with her, and that the original biospy came back with a slight estrogen positive, but that the tests after the mastectomy both showed negative. He said he is going to send them in for one more pathology report, and that he may be calling me back before Christmas with the "gift of getting off tamoxifen." I suppose this is a gift because it's one less poison to put into my body, plus it'll make my periods normal again. We shall see! He is pretty confident he will be making that call, but until then, I still take it.
Overall, it was a no news is good news kind of day. In the spirit of thanksgiving this week, I want to mention how thankful I am for all of the doctors, friends, nurses, and family that have cared for me through all of this. I'm so thankful for my life, and am truly fortunate to be alive today.
