Tuesday I got my towel treatment and then got to see the doctor afterward. The nurse gave me some new creams, including a numbing one. She weighed me (I gained 2 more lbs, ugh), then she took my temperature and said I was warm (99.something). Then she took my blood pressure and my top number was only 74. She said that's low, even for me. She asked if I felt dizzy, and I was too tired to notice if I was or not. She retook it a few minutes later, and it went up enough for her to stop worrying about me. I lay down while I waited for the doctor and actually fell asleep. I woke up with a jolt when she walked in, and felt like I was going to fall off the table. That was fun. She said I looked good for treatment #21, and that I was half way there. I thought I was more than half way, but apparently I am getting 38 total treatments now, not 33 like I was previously told. The last 8 are my "boost" and it will be covering the upper left quadrant of my left breast, because that's where the biggest tumor was. So it will cover a portion of my scar. I left there pretty upset by this news, because honestly, 5 more treatments is another week of this torture I wasn't planning on having. I came home and was falling asleep while I tried to help Jenna with homework. My husband told me take a nap, so I did. Thank God he is able to come home every night now, cook for me and the kids, and take care of getting them to bed. I need him more than ever.
Wednesday was just another regular treatment... blah
Thursday was another treatment, but this time with "bolus" aka spa day. They make it sound so sweet, when by definition, it just makes my x-ray megavoltage.
Friday I went in the morning so I could coach the freshman game. I got in early, but it was picture day so that took awhile to set up. Then, of course, after picture one, the machine went to move into angle 2 and it froze up and had to be reset. So I got to wait an extra 10 minutes for that. When treatment was over I ran to work just to make it to my classroom right as the bell to go to 2nd period rang. Phew!
I heard today that I have so many prayers going up for me, from so many different religious groups that my bases are covered! I thought that was awesome :-)
My sunburn right now, however, is NOT so awesome. Ouch...
24 treatments down, 14 to go... (3 more weeks).
