I went in the treatment room and I laid down on my already molded-just-for-me pillow, tuned in to their soft music, and they started marking me with a sharpie, and moving the machine around a lot. They said they took a bunch of pictures. I kept seeing red beams, hearing beeping, and a lot of tech talk. A few people kept coming in and out and making adjustments. After awhile my arm started going numb and really hurting, so I whined to them about it. The tech finally explained that they were having a hard time getting it all to line up correctly. She had to tape my right breast down to my side. Yes, she really used non-rippable tape and smashed the crap out of my already super tightly fit boob. Needless to say it was not comfortable. They kept telling me to "relax" and not be so tense. It's a little difficult to relax when you have your boob strapped down to your chest and your arms awkwardly placed above your head for over an hour. Then they tell me to move my face to the right and up more, without moving anything else. Um, since the pillow is already molded, it literally felt like moving my face into a wall. My ear was smashed, my nose was smashed, yet I had to somehow, (and I quote) allow my body to "melt like chocolate on a sidewalk." SO wasn't going to happen. I was so annoyed that I wanted to punch someone square in the jaw, when she finally told me I could get up.
She explained that they are trying to avoid my right breast and my throat and no matter how they line it all up, either the entire left breast will not be covered or my throat would inadvertently be effected. They called a doctor in to move the laser beams (or whatever they do to correct this issue), but the doctor on duty was not MY doctor and therefore would not authorize any changes. Needless to say the trip was a huge waste of time because my doctor was not in. Great. Guess I will be starting radiation "part 2" on Friday at 3. I am more than a little aggravated that my doctor scheduled this initial appointment on a day she wasn't going to be in. Ugh.
At least Jenna had a great 1st day of Kindergarden today! And my students were pretty good today, too. We shall see how the rest of the week goes! Bria is potty training in the midst of all of this, haha! Prayers needed!!
