Herceptin and Taxotere both can cause allergic reactions so they gave them to me on two separate days in order to monitor that more closely. At 11:55 I got saline (hydration) and then at 12:00 I got Benadryl and Tylenol. I got just 25 milligrams (half as much as yesterday) so I wasn't as sleepy as yesterday, but my eyes were drooping when I started a movie. Herceptin (the drug that kills cells with the Her-2 protein specifically) started at 12:25, went for 90 minutes, and ended around 1:55. Hydration finished around 2:30 so a total of only 2.5 hours on an IV today. However, the day did not end well. The nurse told me I needed to go get a breast ultrasound on my right breast based on some new information from my MRI. Great.
I was not too thrilled with a breast ultrasound on my right breast, but in I went. I got the ultrasound done and of course the doctor recommends a biopsy. I really didn't want to get a biopsy done, because last time was such a traumatizing experience. I was starting to get weepy, so the doctor assured me it was just a precaution. She says it doesn't look like more cancer, but they have to be sure with the biopsy. I am just overwhelmed and exhausted, and being that I already have to recover from chemo, the last thing I want to deal with is another sore breast. My left breast is still recovering from last week's biopsy. The steri-strips literally came off this morning. After my biopsy, I had a mammogram and was finally sent home. What a long, exhausting day.
