Yesterday, I went with a friend (and the kids this time) to a synthetic wig store. They had really nice stuff, but they were not very personable. Plus, now that I've worn real hair, the fake stuff looks fake to me. Synthetic is about 1/4 of the cost, but the lady said they do not last as long as real hair either. So after weighing out the options, I'm going with the real hair wig. I will probably wear it for about a year, so I want something I love and something that will last.
Tomorrow after I get my wig, I am going to take the girls to get Valentine's pictures taken. We didn't do a Christmas card this year, so now I feel a "pink" themed picture is in order. I may even take a few snapshots of my bald head for the Don't Worry Be Happy foundation in my new DWBH shirt a friend gave me (thank you!).
My insurance just informed me of what my out of pocket expense should look like, and it's going to be a lot. They also said hair prosthesis is not covered under our plan, but luckily it's the law that my new boobs will be covered. Therefore, February 21st (President's Day) there is going to be a head shaving party/fundraiser to help cover the cost of the wig! It's going to be at my sister in law's salon Studio M located at 378 N. 2nd Ave Upland, CA from 4-7 pm. Her cell is 909-292-6417if you want to book a time or you can just walk in. It should be fun, and we can take a cute bald picture together for the blog ;-)
